The Social Work Research and Development Unit (SWRDU)
The Social Work Research and Development Unit (SWRDU) undertakes research on social work and the services directly relevant to it. SWRDU's work includes research, evaluation, consultancy and service development. It covers:
- the analysis, description and evaluation of services
- the production of measures which can be used in monitoring, inspection and development
- collaborative research, consultancy and development work with agencies.
SWRDU is part of the Department of Social Policy and Social Work (SPSW) at the University of York. The department offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate/graduate courses, as well as opportunities for doctoral research. SWRDU has two sister research units within SPSW, the Social Policy Research Unity (SPRU) and the Centre for Housing Policy (CHP).
SWRDU is also a member of the Alcuin Collaboration, a network of academic departments and research centres at the University of York concerned with teaching, research and consultancy in health and public policy.
